    I had an absess

    I had an absess ,he drilled into the cap to relieve pressure, now what's to do root canal or remove tooth. I have to pain now can I wait till pain starts again?

    It's best to start your question in its own thread so that it can get attention from everyone capable of answering it. Hopefully one of the mods will move it.

    Absesses usually are painful and are very serious and can lead to death if not treated. Root canal versus removing the tooth- depends on the general health of the tooth. Usually most dentists don't want to remove teeth unless absolutely necessary because it will cause your alveolar bone to shrink. So if you can get fixed up with a root canal, that may be the way to go. Your dentist will do x-rays to make that decision.

    I'd recommend having it treated now. Don't wait for the pain to return as the infection could spread to adjacent teeth. If the tooth is in good shape and there is good bone support around it, a root canal is the best way to go.
