Pug in trouble! HURRY!
My pug will not stop gasping for breath! My mother and I just took her on a short, 20-30 minute walk with our other dog around the block (we took it slow). That was about an hour ago. She is gasping a lot, and it sounds like her air-way might be closing. How can I help her? I have already tried putting her in a cool room in the house (the basement) so she can cool off, but it didn't help much. Ive tried to get her to drink water (I had to force-feed it to her, but I did it gently) and that seemed to help a little.
I just checked on her (she's currently with my father, who is trying to sleep). My pug seems to be breathing all right, but still gasping. It sounds like she's going to have a stroke or something! Please hurry!

There's really nothing we can do, you have to call a vet. There are emergency vets open 24 hours a day, check your phone book or Google for one in your area.
They'll ask you for her symptoms and then determine whether you need to bring her in or not.
I hope she's okay.
Good luck.

Thank you, I'll ask my mom right away! I think her gasping has slowed down, though, so I may wait a little longer.
But Im sticking to her like glue.

I just checked on her again (I think my father has given up on trying to sleep, lol) and she now has about 10 sec. pauses between gasps, which are now much shorter. It could be that my father's room is now colder then a freezer or something. I'm still watching her closely, though, and I thank you for your help. I think Ill wait on calling the vet until tomorrow, if it doesn't stop.

Please take her to a vet. She could be suffering from congestive heart failure or some other serious condition.

In order to be a responsible pet owner you must look out for their best interests. This means take him/her to the vet as soon as possible.

Next time might be too late. She might collapse and die of suffocation, not being able to get enough air into her lungs. Take her to the vet now! Why let her suffer with something that might be easily fixed?

There is medication that your dog can be on for congestive heart problems, my dog was on medication monthly before he passed in his sleep.
I would be at the vet's office, even if he is no longer gasping.
It was a warning sign that his health isn't good for him to be gasping after a short walk.

It is a common problem in short faced breeds like pugs.
Some may even need surgery to open their sinus so they can breathe better.
Was it hot when you took her for a walk? Heat can have a massive effect on dogs.
You definitely need to get her assed by a vet as everyone else has said.
