Panasonic Tau TV 32-inch: channel button on TV stuck on "2"
    All,

My mother-in-law moved about 600 miles. After setting up her TV again, her Panasonic Tau TV 32-inch is now stuck on channel 2.

Has nothing to do with the remote. The up-down channel buttons on the built-in control panel just below the screen don't respond at all. Stuck on channel 2.

The Phillips universal remote WILL change the channels, but ONLY by directly keying in the channel number on the 0-9 keys on the remote. Up-down channel buttons on the remote don't work, just like on the TV itself.

The TV would have been through a "reset" by having been unplugged for several days during the move.

Have an expert (paid) answer pending from JustAnswers.com that says it's probably a component gone bad and would need a diagnostic and circuit board swap.

Anyone else experience similar stuck channel? Ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Regards,

It could be a bad component. It could be a bad "key". I'm sure you've pressed the keys multiple times, so it's not likely that there's anything that's "stuck" and can be freed up. I think you do need someone who can diagnose the problem and fix it. I'd suspect the control panel circuit board.

Go to set up program channel and auto program to have TV select all the channels again.

I think Pam has the answer. The programming was lost in the move.

Same thing on my Zenith after moving it.
    Reprogramming does NOT solve it.

Surely some component, possibly the remote control receiver in the TV, or component on the circuit board from channels has gone bad since it will select the channels just not do channel up/down on remote OR TV.

I recommend starting your own topic in the future. When you reprogrammed it, did you do it manually or automatically?

Also, if you have cable, do a reprogram for antenna, then switch back to cable and reprogram. If you have antenna, then just reverse that.
