Translation company do not pay me for works
I am a freelance translator in Ohio, and recently got a job from a translation company in Colorado.

Normally a compensation is paid within 30 days after a receipt of my invoice. I completed the job in April, but still haven't received the compensation from them.

I wrote the owner of the company several times, but her answer was, "I will," and there's no specific explanation for the delay.

Is there any authority to solve this problem?

    Thank you.

Since your are in business for yourself and not an employee there are no labor laws to help you.

You would have to take the company to court to collect the money. This might be difficult because it is located in Colorado so you would have to file in the state of Colorado.

You could report the company to the better business bureau, sometimes they help to find a resolution to the problem, again you would need to file with the better business bureau in the city and state where the company is located. They do not charge for this service.

    Good luck to you.

    Thanks for your suggestion.

When I checked this company at BBB's site, it showed a history of complaints. I'll make a claim to BBB.
