    Sink backing up
    My Sink in the kitchen backed up with water yesterday afternoon and will not drain:confused: I've tried Draino and plunging it but still nothing. I also noticed this morning that the dishwasher is filled with water on the bottom. Everything else in the house works fine. HELP!:confused:

    You have a blockage in the horizontal drain line located in the wall.
    I've tried Draino and plunging it but still nothing
    As a repair plumber I have never recommended using harsh chemicals. In your drainage system. Besides they only seem to work in TV commercials and when you try to remove the water you could burn your hands or damage your eyes so use extreme caution and safety goggles when removing the trap.
    The solution would be to remove the trap and send a snake up into the wall.(see image) You'll hit a bend about 8 inches in but once around that you'll only have 6 more feet to put out. Flush with a tub full of hot water. Good luck, Tom

    Thanks Tom! While I was waiting for a response from someone on this site, I went to another and found a solution. I simply plugged up the side of the sink without the disposer and ran hot water down the disposer with it on. I will no longer use harsh chemicals and thank you for responding! :cool:
