Paying child support; daughter does not live with mother
My husband has joint custody of his 16 year old daughter. He pays child support which is automatically taken out of his paycheck and is deposited into her mother's bank account. The problem is that for almost a year, his daughter has not been living with her mother. The daughter lives with her mother's ex-husband. My husband didn't find out about this until about a couple of weeks after the fact (we live in Rhode Island and his daughter and her mother live in Pennsylvania and the mother doesn't tell him what's going on except when she needs extra money for the daughter's braces, back-to-school clothes, etc. - which he has always given her).
We were under the assumption that the mother was paying her ex-husband the child support amounts that she gets from my husband. Unfortunately, we just found out this is not the case. She has been using the money to pay her bills. And we also just found out that the mother has agreed to let the daughter move to Florida to live with her great-aunt (who we do not know) in the next couple of weeks (without consulting with my husband). We don't know what to do about the child support. He wants to make sure that the money goes to his daughter.
