Day 2 of our tonsil removal recovery
Well we are on day 2 of our tonsil removal recovery. Today has been the worst for her in pain, yesterday you couldn't tell she had it done she didn't' act the first day about 5 hours after surgery.

Today is rough and I'm not able to get her to eat or drink ANYTHING I'm very worried. She is so little to begin with that I don't know what to do. You would think I was telling her to eat something awful not a Popsicle. She has eaten very little since Surgery on Friday... And even less fluids!

Anyone have any ideas on how to get her to eat. I'm worried that she will become dehydrated and that things will get worse! HELP ME PLEASE!!

I've told her she could have ice cream for breakfast even I can't get her to do anything!

Keep offering... it may take awhile still as no doubt the pain keeps her from wanting to swallow anything.

Be sure she is keeping up on her pain meds at the suggested intervals as well.
You may just need to insist that she at least take some sips of something like ensure or perhaps pedialyte (they make pedialyte ice pops as well which might be good until she is eating and drinking more), on a frequent basis.

Fluid intake will be more important right now than food intake so focus on that. You can get some of it through foods... maybe small bits of watermelon or cantaloupe if she likes those.

Maybe have a "rule", can even say it is from the doctor if that would help, that she has to have a sip of something, bite of ice cream, etc. every time a commercial comes on television.

I know your post was a few days ago, so hopefully she is on track by now!
