Most VCRs have two ways to connect to the TV. There is an RF input and an RF output. You can bring the signal from the antenna into the RF input (Antenna) and connect the RF output to the TV's RF input (Antenna). Here's a picture of the F-connector that you use to do the connection:

The second way is to connect the VCR's Video and Audio outputs to the TV's Video and Audio inputs. When you do this, you have to select "Line In" on the TV as the source of the signal. The Video out is yellow. The Audio out are red (right channel) and white (left channel). Here is a picture of the connections:

Now, the DVD (your title said VCR) may be quite different. DVDs are newer and more sophisticated than VCRs. You can use the Yellow, Red, and White (Video/Audio) like the VCR. Sometimes there is an S-Video connector that you can connect to (have to have one on both the TV and DVD player. You'll set the TV to "S-Video"). Here's a picture of that connector:

You might also have a component video connection (three video cables, two audio cables). The video is usually labeled "Y Pb Pr" or "Y Cb Cr" and they're often red, green and blue. Don't confuse the red with the audio red (next to the audio white).

Lastly, on very advanced systems, there may be an HDMI connection.

For video, HDMI is the preferred connection; Component video is the next followed by S-Video, baseband video (yellow RCA connector) and finally Rf (antenna) input.

If you need more information, take pictures of the back of your TV and your VCR and your DVD. Post them here (Click the Go Advanced box and download the pictures from the area that appears at the bottom) and I'll walk you through the process.
