Legality of "S" Traps in plumbing
    "S" Traps in Plumbing

I had seen a posting with regards to "S" Traps and that they are illegal to install in new homes. I own a house that is 2 years old. I bought it new. The city's building and plumbing inspectors passed the house during it's inspection.
My wife and I are in the process of fininshing our basement. A friend of mine who is a plumber noticed that there is an "S" trap on the up stairs tub. We found this after noting the tub slow to drain and when we were tying in the frame for a new wall into the strapping that the builder had installed.
He also noted that the up stairs toilet may not be vented properly as well.

Now this being said, who is responsible for fixing the problem and the repairs to any drywall if we have to cut open walls to get at the pipes?

Do I call the city building inspector, the builder or the new home warranty corporation?

I would contact the plumbing inspector, and have him explain why he passed the inspection. He should be able to explain why he passed it. He can pass anything he likes(to a certain degree) as long as he feels it is functionable, safe, and not a hazzard to human life.

What CAN'T or SHOULDN'T I use "Amazing Goop" Plumbing Contact Adhesive and Sealant stuff on? I want to use it to seal an unglazed toilet tank hole with a grommet of unknown material (some type of elastomer that has turned putty-like where exposed long-term to San Diego, CA tap water)
