How long I am dependent on my husbands green card?
    HI,
I got married in nov2005 and came to us on march 2006 with a valid green card.(which my husband applied for me).
We had so many issues and now we are separated. Is there a possibility that my husband can cancel my green card?
I am not sure about the immigration laws. Some of my friends told that he might cancel my GC within 3 years and after 3 years he may not be able to do that?3 years is over now .How can I find it out that I am dependent to him or not?
Is it true? Can someone please answer my question ASAP?

Do you have a conditional PR? Check your card to see if it is valid for 2 years or 10 years. Either way, if you are truly married, then you are a permanent resident and he cannot "cancel" your status. But it will make a difference as to what you need to do to maintain your PR.

You are a PR and in no danger as long as you didn't marry only for US Permanent residence.

Your friends are confusing the 2 year conditional PR and the 5 years for natz.

He can send in whatever letter he wants, but you should immediately gather evidence of the bona fides of the marriage regarding (1) cohabitation and (2) co-mingling of funds. If you have these, you will be fine. You do not need to file anything regarding your PR. You can file for citizenship when you have been a PR for 4 years, 9 months.

I trust this was responsive to your inquiry. Good luck.

I have my GC and I am maintaining my Canadian Citizenship.

I just had the condition removed from my green card and the new on lasts for 10 years. It says so right on it.

No matter what I can not be kicked out of the US if we get divorced. I do not ever see that as we are "lifers" but you should be fine if the condition to your permanent residence has been removed.

Sorry to hear that things went south...
