Can a support order be changed
My ex has petitioned me to court to dispute a standing child support order. My son is 20 years old and has graduated high school and has a full time job. He still lives at home with me. The original order states he is responsible until the age of 21, with no mention of school or a job involvement. Is there any chance that he'll win and not have to pay support for the last year? He is also in arrears for reimbursement of medical expenses, which I have petitioned him to court over.

It is possible to amend or modify the order but unless he has a decrease in income I doubt it will be in his favor. Any back stuff he is still responsible for no matter what.

Unless prevailing law support the age 21 time frame, he could win. Child support is paid to the custodial parent to provide support for the child, if the child has a full time job, he's hardly in need of support.

This really depends on the state. In some states it is only required until 18 at which point the ncp can request a modification if the original order stated an earlier age but the child is not continuing education. A few states continue support until age 21. Do you have a lawyer? If not you should get one.

Normally the age that child support will be paid to, will merely follow exactly what the state law says. So what your state requires is what he can ask for and should get,
