    Low freon.replacement unit
Ok I have a good man heat pump/ac and has been a dud since whe had it put in in 2001. First we replaced the compressor in 2005 and the solder joints, the next year we had a high voltage wire replaced, the next year we had to replace a fan, now it has been freezing up, granted it would always freeze up when we changed the filter, and finally wasn't blowing cold air guy came today said it was 3lbs low on freon, that it had a leak, my husband was here and of course did not ask him anything, but he said we would be better off replacing the whole unit, he said it is better to replace the inside and the outside unit that we would have a better warranty, at a whopping 3100.00 for a three ton unit. I am ready to blow the whole thing up. Some one please advise on what in the world to do

First off, don't buy another Goodman (you are probably thinking that already... ). Second, $3100 for a new heat pump system installed isn't a bad price (unless it's another Goodman). Get some comparative quotes and do some consumer feedback internet research on the brand(s) proposed. Third, consider purchasing an extended parts and labor warranty if your budget allows.

I agree, if you are going to put out the money for a new system, deffentally switch brands. You will probably be looking at closer to $4,400 for a high seer heatpump installed.
