Should I give up on this one?
I recently went to a second interview at a company. The first one seemed to go very well and I think I am a great fit for the position. Today I sent a follow-up thank you email and received this response:

"...we are interviewing a couple more candidates this week and will be making a decision sometime after that."

After nearly a year of job hunting I've heard this line before and it seems that it is a precursor to being turned down.

    How correct is my assumption?

Should I send a response to the person further expressing my interest and possibly mention things like why I am such a good fit?

    Any other advice?

    Thanks in advance.

First of all you don't want to send a message like that, because you'll be forcing them to do so, and that is not something you want as a candidate for a job. Second of all, you never know if you're going to be chosen. And third of all, if you throw it down you're stupid, because even if u don't be accepted u still can on another one because this will mean that you're not trying hard enough, and you're not showing enough interest, so if you're thrown out, the next one you try try it even better than the best you can do so that even if they do other interviews you'll still be the top one, well, good luck on the answer.

Yes, I think you should . It shows drive and initiative. Don't worry about seeming desperate. Times are tough and everyone knows that. The more you respond , the more you're on their mind/desk. Good luck and GOD bless you.

    Huh?

I guess what I'm asking is when you get a message from human resources saying "we have more people to interview" does that mean you are not going to get the job?

Keep trying because with some places it means we don't want to tell you no.
With other places it simply means we have more people to interview.

You never know unless you keep trying.

Hi, I am a Human Resources Advisor and I guess I would need to know:

What kind of positions are you seeking ?

What kind of education & experience do you have ?

Have up updated your resume ?

Do you prepare for your interviews ?

All these things matter. I can help you if you can give me this information.
