    He says this

We opted for free elections, political pluralism, freedom of religion and an economy with competition and private property
And what is Obama and congress doing? Increasing the size, the debt, the power, the spending of central government. For example, a government health plan? What to supplement the government medicare, medicaid, and VA health system? How is this going to be paid for when Medicare and social security are in the red?

The model that emerged during the late 20th century has turned out to be unsustainable. It was based on a drive for super-profits and hyper-consumption for a few, on unrestrained exploitation of resources and on social and environmental irresponsibility
    Typical liberal boiler plate:

    Hmmm rich companies:

Walmart - is it the "rich" that are "hyper consuming" there? Are the "poor" shut out?

How about Microsoft? Is it only the "rich" that are "hyperconsuming" their products?

How about Google, is it only the rich that get to use this service?

However different the problems that the Soviet Union confronted during our perestroika and the challenges now facing the United States, the need for new thinking makes these two eras similar. In our time, we faced up to the main tasks of putting an end to the division of the world, winding down the nuclear arms race and defusing conflicts

Does he live under a rock?

How about Iran, North Korea becoming nuclear powers? How about the Taliban in Pakistan?

With a leader like him no wonder the USSR is no longer here?

I guess Obama is our Gorby ? Either that or the heir to the Romanov empire. Actually ;I think they had less tzars than Obama has appointed.

I don't know how anyone else spins it ,but Perestroika was a desperate attempt to reform communism to make it appear more palatable . He never wanted the disolution of the Soviet Union. What is the new model... a kinder gentler communism ? Gimme a break.

We opted for free elections, political pluralism, freedom of religion and an economy with competition and private property
The hell they did... their opening up of their economic system to competition soon led way to the new tzarist oligarchs getting an iron grip on the country's economy .
