    Exterior house paint colours
I have a 100+ yr old home, with natural, unpainted shingles. They are weathered and look almost grey now.
We have a lot of trim, spindles, shutters and doors that we need to paint and are having a real hard time choosing colours. They are all white now?
    Any suggestions??

    Thanks,
    Mike

Hi. Mike, interesting question but not being able to see your house could not suggest any colours. However, if you coud post a pic maybe we could get it together.

In our town we are not allowed to change a heritage house without first allowing the society to look it over. In some cases, we have to use the same stones, bricks, colours that were to appear on that house when it was in its prime. Its good that some brick companies can still produce the replicas, limestone was a big thing 100 or so years ago for foundations, and that fortunately is still abundant at our lakeshore. Good luck.

Mike, your house looks FANTASTIC!! Why do you want to change the weathered shingles ? I would suggest though, making the shutters white, and the window trim remain white.

Most people with shingled houses can only hope that theirs would look as good as yours. Stay tuned, though, you may get a lot more suggestions then you bargain for !

    Best regards

Thanks a lot Tickle. We aren't changing the shingles though, just the trim, shutters and doors.

    Hi Mike

I agree with tickle, house looks great.

Leave everything that is white white.

Paint shutters and top of railing white.
