Dad in Louisiana/Mom and Son in Texas -Guardianship
My son's mother mailed some papers that appear to be asking me to sign over legal guardianship to her. I've had No conversations about this with her, only the envelope in the mail. Currently we do have joint custody and my some visits me often. My question is WHY would she want me to sign over legal guardianship to her? Is that different from Joint Custody? Her husband is from Switzerland and I'm worried that she may want to go to live in Switzerland with my son. Please advise. Thanks.

It sounds like they are trying to get you to terminate your rights so that they can adopt.

There "seems" to be no compelling reason to allow anything besides what already exists.

More detail on what the document actually says would be good. But DEFINITELY do not sign anything until seeing a lawyer.
