Kenmore Elite washer is only a couple of years old and will not call for the water to fill. If I put the temperature control on hot, then it will fill with hot water.

boogs1951- there are ( 4 reasons that could cause this problem;; #1- The inlet valve screens are clogged;; #1A- Turn ofv water faucet and remove the hoses and clean the screens;; #2- Checked to see if the cold water hose has gotten kinked;; #2A- Turn ofvf water faucet and loosen the hose so that you can strighten the hose;; #3- THE timer or selector switch is defective .;#3A-NOTE- do not attempt to test these two swiches un less you have special knowledge on this ;; call a appliance service man to do this;; #3B- the timer and selector switches work in tandam to do severl things , one of these is the control of the water comeing into the washer; hot or cold or hot and cold mixed ;; :: I hope that I have helped you solve your problem;; if not let me know ,come back to this post and let me know ;; Have a great day and GOD BLESS :: F.B.E.
