Yes, you can be addicted to marijuana.

Why don't people talk about it? Well, unless you know someone really well and have a very close relationship with them, why would they bring it up?

Mostly I meant when you watch these rehab shows and shows like intervention I never see anyone on there like

"I have to go to rehab I have a serious smoking weed problem.."

I don't know I know that anything you do everyday for 30years is a problem but most of the information I find on the internet about weed is just basically propaganda I feel like.

The actual substance is not addictive... but it is habit forming.

Now smoking tobacco is easy to stop, you just have to break through the nicotine addiction...

Stopping Marijuana is a lot harder, it is not the actual chemical that you are addicted to, it is the feeling and the habit of smoking it...

As an alcoholic/addict in full recovery, I've been around this topic a lot. I think you can be ADDICTED to anything. Being physically dependent on substances is different. I've heard conflicting information on whether marijuana has chemicals in it that can make you hooked. I personally don't think so because I've never had withdrawals from coming off weed , like say, Oxycontin. I've smoked dump truck loads of weed over the past thirty years, and am not going to B.S. you. The first drug I did was smoke a joint... then it was Quaaludes, Demeral, mushrooms,Cocaine, you name it, I probably did it. But the introductory drug was, and usually is, pot. That's the problem most people have, is the trail that you end up on that started with smoking a joint. Now granted, there are a lot of people that just stick with weed, and they THINK that it's OK, but the thing is that it's ILLEGAL in most states. It's not a good idea to start any habit that involves possible jail time. Plus it's not good for your lungs, you lose ambition, there's a lot of reasons you shouldn't. I think there's too much to lose, too little to gain. Good luck and GOD bless you friend.

You can, to an extent. It is not like a heroin is crack addiction. I smoke too, and it can be addictive because Marijuana has nicotine in it, the addictive ingredient in cigarettes. Marijuana is not Bad for you like many people say it is. Sure, maybe it's better not to smoke pot but it's fine sometimes. It can also be addictive because the user finds it's fun to be high

Marijuana only has nicotine if you mix or put nicotine in with it.

Cannabis smoke less carcinogenic than tobacco smoke

I think I remember reading somewhere something about marijuana having the same amount or maybe even more tar than tobacco. Maybe that's what you were thinking of?

It is addicting but nothing as bad as many of the other drugs so that is why you don't hear about it as much.

You can become addicted to washing your hands or having sex or any action.

You become addicted to pot due to the THC content. You become emotionally addicted to it. Your brain has no idea of what reality is any longer as it does not experience reality - only a hazy notion of reality through the pot haze. If anything, pot will lead you to eat way too much junk food and you can easily become obese with lots of health problems as a result. Pot intensifies your emotions as well as your physical sensations. That's why music needs to be blaringly loud and that's why you get the munchies and have to eat bags of potato chips or cheetos or pizza, etc. It is a hard habit to quit. Yes, I have noticed that there are no interventions on TV that involve pot. I find that most interesting in that pot DOES lead the person down the road into other drugs. It is a very rare person who smokes pot and does no other drug - even alcohol to get a "bigger, better kick". If you feel you can quit. By all means quit smoking it.

True. He doesn't exactly smoke everyday all day though or constantly act crazy without it like most addiction shows I've seen. And there have been times that he has quit smoking at the drop of a hat for months at a time. It just seems like it always gets to a point for him where he would just be better off smoking rather than not smoking. I have seen him at his angriest and leave to smoke come back and be a lot more reasonable and rational. Which is also one of the reasons that I started smoking. I would smoke as a way to escape. This is also another reason that I quit for a while I felt it was leading me into an addictive type of behavior which I didn't want to form so I quit.

But it just seems to me like I always get to this point where I am just like eeehh why not.. what's a little weed ever hurt? I'm just kind of wondering if I am in denial that I'm an addict or if marijuana might not really be completely negative.

I know it sounds like I am completely pro weed but the truth is I'm really not. I'm torn as to what my emotions are on it and I was wondering where the line is... because I don't want to end up an addict but I don't really want to quit something if it could be helpful to me when I'm completely stressed.
