    Craftsman self-propelled lawnmower
I have a crafsman self-propelled lawnmower. I'm having trouble with the drive mechanism, it is on when I start it without me engaging it. I looked at the drive mechanism and all looks OK, I also checked the drive cable and it is connected and working. What should I be looking for.

    Holding poster's hand:

Type your model number in the box where it asks for it.

Be nice and post the resulting link so I don't have to.

We cannot read your mind to get your model number from it.

But the model number is necessary to see the parts breakdown and exploded view of your mower.

It's the hope that the diagram will shed some idea on how your drive system works. It may not.

    Get it?

Craftsman model#917.377795 ss#051904m 006540. I looked at the diagram on sears and does no show drive mechanism, unless I looked at wrong place. Thanks

I guess it's time for you to call. The link I get is this:
    CRAFTSMAN | Model #917377795 | ROTARY MOWER | SearsPartsDirect.com

    Which returned NOTHING.

It's very unusual that there is not a parts breakdown diagram. Usually the individual parts are listed as unavailable.

The best you can do at this point is to post a picture using "Go advanced/Manage attachments"

Now it's my turn to be stupid (migraine, again). The info is there.

Here is the entire drive assembly schematic.

    http://www.searspartsdirect.com/part...ponents%20list

It looks as if the pully is engaged by some friction mechanism. If the belt has been replaced it could be the wrong one and it could grab.

Also look for bushings that are not round.

Look at #11 and #30. The friction disk and the adjustment.

But I'll bet items #21 is worn.

Sorry I had a bad day and didn't see it the first time.

I guess close doesn't count. I did not find the exact model number, one digit off but check page 38 of the manual. http://www.managemyhome.com/mmh/lis_...M/L0401286.pdf
