Dying cherry blossom tree has ants
My cherry blossom has slowly been dying/not blooming flowers for 2 years now and it only has 1/4 left with leaves on it. I decided to trim it back and found dead bark pockets in the trunk with carpenter ants in them. It had what I think is black knots in a few places. Many different colored scales on it.. green and white. Is this a lost cause? The tree also sounds hollow when you knock in places... I can't tell if its just the bark that is dead. It has to be around 50-60 years old... but it really lame now... just empy stump branches
    Any suggestions??
