    Pharmcey mistake on prescriptin card
    Hope some one can send me in the right direction. My husbands company changed insurance in the middle of last year,we received a new ins card from the new ins company
    I promptley took the new card to my pharmcey with the letter and explained that my old card was no good because of the change and asked them to enter the new card any way to make a long story short the pharmcey still continue to use my old information and now we get a letter from the old ins saying they want us to pay for the old card being used at the drugstore!
    I had know way of knowing they were still using the old information after I gave them the new information because the slips on the med bag does not tell you which ins only what was paid Are we resposnible for this? I took the letter to the drug store and they said it was the old ins falult for not taking us out of the system. What do we do?

    The fault is with both the pharmacy and the old insurer. The pharmacy should not have submitted the claim to the old carrier and the old carrier should not have honored it.

    I've frequently had medical providers submit claims to the wrong insurer and the insurer reject it.

    Write a letter to the insurance carrier telling them, that you informed the pharmacy of the change and that they should not have accepted the claim after the expiration date. Therefore you are not responsible for this bill and to stop contacting you about it.

    I would try to get a written acknowledgement that you informed the pharmacy of the change prior to the filling that prescription.

    We did send the insurance company a letter and they did receive it but they continue to call and send us a bill for this. We have also talked to the manager of the pharmcey and he says "not our problem all we can do is send it thru" so my husband says 'well how come you took our new insurance card Did you even put it in the system?' He refused to answer and told us there is nothing he can or will do, so we notified the old ins about what the pharmcey had said and yet they still continue to harrass us about this, Should we seek legal advise?

    Until someone files suit against you, you don't need an attorney. I would escalate this though, but talking with the someone higher up at the pharmacy.

    Thank you ScottGem for your advise. I really appreciate it We will wait and see if they file suit and in the mean time we will be going up
    And over the pharmacy manager. I will keep you all posted
