    Child support
Can someone collect welfare without collecting child support. I have a beautiful 3 year old girl she lives with her mother but I take care of her. As of right now my child's mother is not working and does not have any benefits for herself, however my daughter is covered under my plan. Is it possible that she can collect welfare or assistance without putting me on child support.

I'm not understanding you at all. How exactly do you take care of your daughter if she lives with her mother? When I hear taking care of a child I think food, bathtime, bedtime, to and from school type of things that might be difficult for you todo all of if the child doesn't live with you...
And what do you mean put you on child support?

If a custodial parent seeks public assistance, its often because the non-custodial parent is not giving enough support.

Before the government pays out tax dollars to support soemone, then want to make sure that the applicant is getting as much as they can get from non governmental sources.

So if the mother of your child has to apply for pulbic assistance, they make sure that the you are paying the legally required child support. She will be forced to file a request for court ordered support.

First there SHOULD be a legal custody agreement and a court ordered child support agreement, as the Father you should be glad to have this, to pay the legal amount.

As noted, once she files for welfare they will ask on the forms, who the child's father is, and how much in child support does he pay. Even if she does not file for support, it is common for the state to then come after you to repay part of the welfare being paid because you are not paying child support.

I have a 3 year old child out of wedlock and I broke up with his father since September 2008. He was abusive and I had him arrested. After he got out of jail, I allowed him to still see our child. We agreed that he would pay the child support without the courts being involved. Well of course that...
