    Simple Possession
My car had to be searched for money and I had maybe half a blunt in the car but I told the officer up front before he even searched the car. Now I have to go to court. What is going to happen to me

You get better replies when you do the whole story on one post.

It doesn't matter if you say it is not yours
Possession makes it yours. The only way you could possibly get out of that is IF someone steps up and says it was theirs and you had no idea they left it in the car. I doubt any of your friends would be willing to admit to it being theirs.
Even then they can still charge and convict you for it.
You told the officer up front though so there is no denying your possessing it.

At the very least they would reduce it to a summary offense and give you around a $250. Fine for each count, but with the second charge you probably won't get off so easy.
It depends on the quanity too. I don't do drugs so I am not sure on the technical details.

    Hello K:

Nothing SHOULD happen to you, but they didn't ask me. The searches may have been illegal. If so, you're going to need an attorney. You're going to need an attorney even if the search WAS legal.

When you go to court, tell the judge that you can't continue without a lawyer and you can't afford one. You SHOULD get a lawyer appointed to you.

Don't talk to the cops and don't talk to the prosecutor.

Any more the cops and the courts say that all searches are legal (thanks to homeland security) and fighting that can be overwhelming. The cops lie then it is your word against their word, the Judge believes the cops over what you say.

Here is what my boyfriend went through and his lawyer said, 'Do you really want to fight this when the court listens to the cops over you?'
