    Whirlpool dishwasher won't start
Hello - I hope someone can help me. I have a Whirlpool dishwasher Quiet Partner 980 series (about 11 yrs old) and it will not start. The control panel lights up and can be put in diagnostic mode per the schematic instructions. Cycling through the sequence does nothing except change the lights on the control panel. I've tested the door switches, float switch, thermal fuse, fill valve solenoid resistance (690 ohms) - all test out OK.

Does this sound like the electronic control board is shot, or is there anything else that I have overlooked? Is there a particular component on the board that I should check?

    Thanks in advance!

OK so I thought it was the control board, and was correct. I disconnected all the connectors, removed the circuit board from the plastic housing, flipped it over and found one of the relays had an unsoldered terminal. It is a 10amp Omron relay. I re-soldered the pin onto the board and as I write this the dishwasher is doing its thing. Saved about $175 on the replacement part, not to mention the service call.

    Hope this helps someone!

We had a technician come out who showed us how to reset the control panel and said that the latch was probably not engaging properly. He didn't charge us for the visit which was nice, but it...
