Shazamataz is right about one thing:
always use
good conditioner. When I'm shopping around for the next best conditioner (because I do get sick of just one brand), I look for ones that target curly hair. Right now I'm using Tresemme's conditioner and I LOVE it. I have been using it for probably 6 months now.
I assume your hair is short? I can't really speak for short curly hair because my hair is quit long. When my hair was short I noticed the curls were bigger and fuller.
Here is my styling routine.
1.) In the shower, apply enough conditoner and leave in for about 3 minutes (I find that people/girls with curly hair have to use more conditioner)
2.) Before rinsing conditioner out, comb or brush hair until there aren't any knots
(those are the killers!)
3.) Rinse hair but leave a tiny bit of conditioner in. If you think you've rinsed all of it out then put a quarter size more in your hair and leave it in
4.) Once out of the shower, brush hair until there are no knots
5.) Take your favorite styling gels, creams and mousses out
6.) After freeing your hair from knots (and I can't stress this enough because it's hard to style curly hair with knots) flip your head upside down along with all of your hair. Take your favorite syling product and squeeze it in your hand, lather it around and scrunch your hair with your hands. Repeat as desired.
7.) As I scrunch, I hairspray it now and then, just to keep the curls in
8.) Keep srunching until hair is fully dry. Sometimes I use a blow dryer because I get lazy : ) Make sure if you use a blow dryer that your also using hairspray with it.
GOOD LUCK!
