Musty smell in half bath.very frustrated
My boyfriend and I recently decided to move in together. I have a son who is 11 and a daughter who is 10. We moved to his home that is no more than 3 years old. After the first couple of weeks I started noticing a smell in the half bathroom. Being that is the only restroom downstairs it is frequently used. It only has a toilet and a sink. It was a strong chemical smell to me. My boyfriend said he thought is was urine. I went to work on the bathroom. It is very small. I turned on the fan and the lights and scrubbed the floor with bleach water, paying attention to the floor around the toilet. I washed the rugs which didn't smell when I took them out of the bathroom. I cleaned the toilet and behind the toilet. There is nothing left in that room. But after I left the bathroom for a couple of minutes later to let the cleaner smell leave and the odor was still there. Ive tried air fresheners, candles and even they won't mask whatever the odor is. The other day I just opened a box of baking soda and sat it on the back of the toilet. That seemed to work for like a day. Now the smell is back and the baking soda is still in there. It seems to just be in the air... Can anyone help me?

Sniff the sink drain, see if odor is coming from there.
