Is it safe to mix all these skin whitening ingredients together
    Hi I bought
    Citric acid powder
    Alpha arbutin powder
    Hydroquinone powder
    Kojic acid powder
    Mulberry extract
    Aha acid

Do you think it's safe to mix these ingredients with my favorite cream and put it direct on my skin?

Absolutely not! You never know which of these ingredients will react with another. The risk of doing damage to yourself increases dramatically. I doubt anyone will be able to give you a definite answer on here as we are not professionals. I advise you to consult a chemist! Do not cause irreversible skin damage to yourself!

Hydroquinone can make your skin darker in higher than 4% concentrations and although levels at 2% are considered safe if you react you risk patchy skin and reduced natural protection from the skin.. increasing your chance of skin cancer. I would not use it.

Citric acid is generally safe as it water soluble and will improve smoothness and skin quality.

Alpha-arbutin, mulberry and aha are should all be used with caution together as they will react and will depend upon the sensitivity of your skin.

If your aim is to whiten and you have both alpha arbutin and mulberry, you will not need the AHA. This does not actually whiten your skin as such, it will remove/exfoliate the top layer to reveal the lower level of skin making it appear lighter. You MUST avoid the sun if you use this as it will become very sensitive and if it burns it will result in black patches.

Alpha-arbutin and mulberry are safe to use together since the active whitening agent is arbutin. The alpha form is more bioavailble. Be careful when using these together as they will cause the skin to dry out more, so make sure you use a good moisturizer too. A good sun block is one based on zinc or titanium oxide and it is not too heavy on the skin. Otherwise you can use one that has added moisturizing agents.

Kojic acid and arbutin are safe to use together if they are in the correct bio-available states and measured in the correct ratios.

And imbalance will absolutely result in a reaction. Be careful. Don't mix them as a reaction + sunlight will result in darker skin.. then you have to worry about the healing of it too.

Best to use one at a time and test to see how your skin copes with it on an inconspicuous area. Take it for there. I don't know which ones you have but there are research papers available online that show you more details. Some are even on the websites of other proven and clinically tested creams like meladerm.

    Good Luck :)

PS. Kojic acid is very strong and dehydrating. A good moisteriser is essential with it to calm the skin
