I'm not sure what is meant by the reset button. Perhaps you are resetting the breaker for the unit.

We have provided advice for those do it yourself types, if you have the skills, but we would need to know more about your system, such as make, model, etc. and a more detailed description of the problem.

Otherwise you need to get a pro who can diagnose the problem. If you go that route, and have questions or doubts about the diagnosis, by all means repost with as much info as you can provide.

Here is the information that you are requesting. There is a box next to the AC unit on the house that says "reset button for the AC unit"
    It is a Lenox
    Model HS19-311V-2P
    May 1986
    S-5186EO3094
The fan is not spinning only room temp air is coming out of the vents
When I hit the reset button it just clicks and that's all. I do not know how better to describe what it is doing but just that. I hope that helps

Outside there is a panel that comes off where the electric goes in. turn off the power and look for this.

Look to see if the wires are burnt at the top, or if the top is swolen. It is supposed to be flat.

If the fan on your outdoor unit is not spinning but you can hear the compressor inside humming or buzzing then you likely need a new capacitor.

Take down all the information on your existing capacitor printed on its side and go to a local heating parts store and get a new one. Then cut the power to the outdoor unit and replace. This is quite doable for newbies.
