I would really appreciate if someone with a financial calculator coould help me solve for r to work out an interest rate in the first question and a yield in the second.

The first equation is = 99951.33=400[1/r-( 1/(r(1+r)^144))] x (1+r)144


The second equation is = 1000= 40/((1+r)) + 40/((1+r)^2) + 40/((1+r)^3)… (40+ 1296.529)/((1+r)^10)

Are you supposed to be using these equations to solve these? If so, it's cheating a bit to ask someone else to just solve them on a financial calculator for you, and I personally am not going to.

Not to mention the fact that I would have to know what all these numbers represent in order to know how to enter them. I'm not familiar with these particular equations, though the second looks like something that should have a shortcut. Is that supposed to be an annuity? (My calculator won't solve for rate for that anyway.)

If you need help doing the actual math, I would suggest perhaps posting it on the math forum.

If you are just trying to solve something and found these equations online or something, it might be better to say what it is you're trying to solve and let someone help you figure out the best way to do it. That may involve a financial calculator and someone can even help you learn how to do that.

But just expecting someone to whip out their financial calculator and do your work for you just isn't right.
