    Installing a washer drain uphill
    Hello,

    I am trying to relocate my washing machine from my kitchen to my basement.
    The waste line I am trying to tie into is a 2" cast iron line which runs from my kitchen on the 1st floor to the basement. There is only a 4' section exposed in the basement before it goes outside to the septic tank. (this section is 6' high and goes outside at that height)
    I want to install my washer about 20' from the 2" waste pipe, but the pipe will be running uphill, is this possible?
    Do I need to put a pump in between the washer and the cast Iron drain somewhere?
    Can anyone tell me how to do this?
    Any tips on connecting PVC waste line to 2" Cast Iron?

    Water will not run up hill so nix that idea. A ejector pit would work but I am not liking the pump idea unless you have some great solution for turning it on and off every time its needed.

    Absolutely not. Drain has to slope 1/4" per foot. With 20' of new drain, you need at least 5' of slope. Now when you add the 6' of height for the existing drain, you are starting 77" high. Add a trap and stand pipe and you are in the ceiling.

    You will have to move washer closer to the existing drain and use check valve or probably to use some compact pipe set up to help you with your elevation dilemma.

    What's the height of the ceiling in the basement ?

    To connect PVC to C.I. you use dedicated Fernco shielded couplings.

    The ceiling is 7' total but I can't get the new drain line higher than the 2" cast.
