Blocked hot water in bath tub.
The hot water facet in the bath tub is not working. We removed the handle and pulled out the stem and turned the water on and water blasted out of the water pipe no blockage but when we put the back together it will not work. We switched sides with the hot and cold stems and the hot still didn't work but the hot stem worked on the cold side. When you look at the pipes they look the same. What do you suggest? This house was built in '34. Thank you. This has got us stumped because usually the facet leaks and that we know how to repair.

Block the tub filler & with the hot stem out & open the cold water tap & see if it crosses over. You may have an obstruction in the tap body between the hot supply side & the tub filler.

Take a hard look at the seat on the hot side? Notice anything different? Is yhere a build up that could restrict the flow? It sure doesn't sound liike the stems are at fault and the seat's the only thing left. Good luck, Tom
