Connecting a second to the nid
I have 2 phone lines and having a hard time getting the second line hooked up

There are 4 screws with red and green marks on the middle ones. There is also anther set underneathe them. There are 2 wires coming from the phone company that are red and black going to the first set of 4 screws. My lines are all hooked up to the second set of green and red. The first set has the yellow and black hooked up to the red and green ones. I have a dialtone on this one but can't hear it ring, the set below are fine. My second line has its own jack and it's own line feeding to it. How do I have this hooked up wrong. Also when you call a number on the 2nd line, it shows up on the caller id as the 1st line number. I am confused and frustrated with this can anyone helpme. Thank you

You are crosswired. A pair from the phone company should be red and green... then the next pair is black and yellow. Have the phone company verify the lines and the corresponding wiring. Typically if a pair, or a wire goes bad, the phone company will use different colors to make the connection.
