    High loop for dishwasher?
I am replacing the drain hose on our dishwasher. The old one was 10' or so. No knowing that, I of course bought the only one Lowe's had which is 6'. The old hose did a high loop on the side of the dishwasher. I also had run a high loop inside the cabinet before connecting to the sink drain. Are both loops needed? I have enough hose for one loop but not both.

    Hi John...

A single high loop under the kitchen sink cabinet is all that is needed. It can hook to a disposal or a branch tailpiece... see image.

Mark said it. In addition to his answer: manufacturers install high loop on side of some DW just in case. But do as Mark said and you'll be fine.

With two high loops you have created a running trap in your discharge lne. One loop is all that's needed. Good luck, Tom

Loop Vents [ 1 Answers ]

Does anyone have a trick for telling which rough-in stub is the loop vent and which is the waste line? I found plumbing under my kitchen island and would like to add a bar sink. Typically a loop vent connects back to the waste line after the vent to roof lateral.
