The Holy Spirit inspired and lead the apostles
Today's Gospel (Jn 16:12-15): Jesus said to his disciples, «I still have many things to tell you, but you cannot bear them now. When He, the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into the whole truth. He has nothing to say of himself but he will speak of what he hears, and He will tell you of the things to come. He will take what is mine and make it known to you; in doing this, He will glorify me. All that the Father has is mine; because of this I have just told you, that the Spirit will take what is mine and make it known to you».
This passage is used to show that the apostles later after Jesus ascended were able to say and write information that Jesus had not on record said.
It is also used to show that writings of the apostles which exist but are not in the Holy Bible but are used as Church Tradition (large T).
:confused:Do you believe such writings by the early Church fathers?
    :)Peace and kindness,:)

    That's a loaded question Fred.
One can believe what someone else says because it doesn't contradict the word of God. This doesn't mean that these writings are equal to the actual word of God. And tradition? - jesus and Paul in the word of God have a lot to say condemning the traditions of men.

The traditions of men (little t) and the written Traditions of the Church (Large T) are far different
Jesus started several Traditions as a man (the god/man) as did several of his apostles as the bible records all are with an upper case "T" to me.

The world and man can give names to what they teach. But nothing of this world today or man lacks corruption. (Christ was begotten of the Father, ONLY He was without sin. Only He is the unleave bread)

Jesus did speak of the traditions, which are spoken of in the Word of God. He also spoke of traditions of man that are as the leaven bread that raise up of corruptions.

We follow the unleave bread of Christ. We follow the WORD of God which was made flesh.

    Follow Christ

I believe what Jesus said in a free translation'' he who is not against Me , is of Me''.
So , if tradition is not against Christ (not only literally),then this tradition is of Christ!
If tradition is not against the Word of God , then this tradition is of God's!
I think that if something is of God's , then somehow the Word will stand by this something, if not , the Word will cut it through because the Word is a knife!
The Word is not our only filtre , there is also the Holy Spirit that dwells in us who can also testify what is God's and what is not!

Yes I agree adam7gur, However there are those not yet buried in Christ and born again by the spirit. There remains those who follow their own ways, and make void the word of God by their law, their rules.

Christ said, REMEMBER, those that rule over you, who have spoken the word of God, CONSIDER the end of their converstaion. Why? Because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. (Hebrew 13:7-8)

Be not in doubt and hesitation which give opportunity to be led away by another opinion of various sorts. Someone strange who receives and entertains another doctrine. The heart is to remain stedfast in grace, and not take in a feeding that is not profitable in Faith and trust of Christ Jesus. (Hebrew 13:9)

The Word of God = profitable in godilness
