    Green Math?
Driving 1000 miles burning gas at the rate of 21 mpg which = 47.62 gallons

The 47.62 gallons of gasoline burnt * 8.345404 pounds per gallon = weighs about 397.39
lbs. (it’s actually weighs a bit less – but who’s counting?)

So, if 397.39 lbs. of burnt gasoline in one month * over a 12 month period (one year) will weigh = 4768.68 pounds or 2.38 tons

According to this webpage Carbon dioxide emission calculator and offset estimator
it produces “Total Tons of CO2 annually” = 6.6 tons

Question:how does 2.38 tons of gasoline produce almost 3-times as much CO2 or 6.6 tons of ‘CO2 gas’?

I can’t figure it out, you take 2.4 tons of a substance, any substance, burn off all but the CO2, capture it and the CO2 weighs 6.6 tons?

A New Math? Or another Al Gore MIRACLE?

I’m going to answer my own question. Al Gore does miracles! (he invented Chemistry didn’t he?)

    It works like this:

Carbon when burned joins two oxygen atoms to each of the carbon atoms, C02. The weight of oxygen and carbon are roughly equal, oxygen being a bit heavier. So since the as the molecular weight is tripled and since the weight of the molecules are roughly equal then the weight of the burnt gas becomes roughly 3 times its original weight.
