    1995 Honda w/ no spark
I have a 1995 Honda Civic, We replaced the head gasket and now have no spark. I tested the ICM, Coil, MAP sensor. Verified that TDC to the number 1 cylinder and number 1 position on the distributer. Still cannot get spark. What am I missing.

I would replace the ICM and coil on any vehicle over 120,000 miles or 10 years. Bench testing ICMs and coils is not reliable. I've seen too many test fine that did not work at all. Be sure to test all under dash and under hood fuses with a test light or multimeter. Verify power to the distributor. If the problem persists, replace the distributor housing (genuine Honda only) and install the new ICM and coil. Internal sensors (CKP, TDC, and CYL) get fried and stop working.

I tested all the fuses and the CEG turns off after 2 seconds. I hear the fuel pump. I do have power to the distributer. I am curious as to the timing of the failure. Is there anything we could have done to cause this or is it just bad luck?

It's hard to tell. If you didn't disconnect the negative battery cable, before working on the distributor, there's the possibility it could be damaged. ICMs have a sensitive microchip inside. Be sure to coat the back of the new ICM with a thin, even coat of silicone heat-transfer compound; otherwise, it won't last long.

Turned out to be the distributer. Replaced and fired on first turn. Thanks

Did you replace the ICM and coil or did you install a whole new distributor?
