My brother was biten by a dog
My brother was bitten by a Lab Dog in Miami, Fl on October 2003. He was at his mortgage broker's house to fill out the application and the dog was resting on the living room but he went over him and was attacked. His broker took him to the hospital and offered to pay all the medical bills. One month later we were recommend by a friend to file a civil complaint for damages against the broker so he filed a case on June 2004 but the case was dismissed on 2008 due to they could not reach the broker. We looked for another lawyer and she filed a new claim on August 2006 but is still pending. Somebody told us about the statue of limitations in Florida... somebody know if he has a time frame to pursue the case because the incident took place on 2003.

I wonder "who" recommended that you sue the person

OK, you are gong to sue, what are the damages, he paid for the hospital so what other money was loss.

If you have already filed ( got papers filed in court) it stops the SOL. If you only have a lawyer who is thinkig about filing, then the SOL is still ticking.

But If you were just bitten, he paid for all the medical, what do you have to sue for, was there any lasting injury.

    Next how was he "attacked"

I just see too many people with no real injury being convinced it is a get rich idea.

So my opinion unless there is real serious damages, you move on with your life

My brother was the one who was bitten. The broker did not pay the bills because my brother filed the sue before and the lawyer told him to avoid any contact with him because of the sue. Until what year the SOL will be still ticking... this could take forever.

I don't understand why the case was dismissed when the Defendant couldn't be located. Why didn't your brother get a default Judgment?
