Actually I did nothing with the deceased, he was not my patient. However, when I walked out of MY patient's room I saw people crying in the hall. It was heartbreaking.

And yes, part of life is death. This gentleman was 93, he had plenty of family around.

Although it is hard to see them go, sometimes it is good. When they are 93 and dependent again like an infant, it is good. He was ready.

The family was grateful that there were 12 student nurses there to help ease their pain.

Thanks Momi, you made me smile!!

It really takes an act of kindness, compassion and selflessness to do what you did. Lots of people would walk away feeling they wouldn't know what to do or say, or they would just think it was too difficult and would make them feel bad in the process.

I think you're going to do wonderful things...

Now, if I could only be as smart as Tal, I'm not sure I'd be very attractive though with all those bump on my head...

It's chocolate cake with bugs on it.
I've got Butterflies, worms and what look like bees.
    Very cute with pink icing.

Doesn't seem like five minutes ago that we where in hospital waiting for her to arrive.

J_9--My best friend is in Nursing School right now also. She is in clinicals right now. Whe said her patient had all sorts of good stuff to work on. Then she said, good for her maybe not so good for him. Something about changing lots of bandages and several different IV's.

She loves it and is looking forward to finishing next summer.

Wow BIM, clinicals are fun. I had my first yesterday. I had a blast. However, the 1st semester is geriatrics, I am really unsure about that.

Good luck and congrats to your friend. Be sure to go to the pinning ceremony if you get a chance to.

Well, I just happened to stumble across this thread and it's a nice idea. And, in less than 3 months has received over 1500 replies. That's pretty impressive! This site can be quite addictive to say the least. I'm not sure why that is, except that, in a sense, it's the perfect way to engage in dialogue with other people, with nobody interrupting you and the full assurance that others will hear you out before replying. That's something that's hard to come by in spur-of-the-moment, face-to-face conversation. To an extent I agree with the sentiment that modern technology is killing people's social skills but there is something to be said for it nevertheless. The way I see it, home computers and the internet are to my generation what television was to my parents' generation and what telephones were to my grandparents' generation ; something I grew up without and will never take for granted but my kids will.

OMG has anyone ever been stuck in an elevator? I was today. It was a rather unique experience.

I was at school, minutes before class was to start and the power went out right before we hit the second floor.

Lucky me, class was cancelled for the day, at 7:35 this morning.

Yes, I was to blame, I take all the blame for cancelling a math class on a Friday practically before the sun rose.

Oh, yeah, that is right... I am the hero of the class cause everyone HATES math!! :D
