Hello all! I have got a Kangaroo Paw garden going (I live in the hills of Western Australia) and I have lots and lots of these little "plants" growing off the flower stalks. We didn't cut them away straight after they flowered and so these things had the chance to grow. Can these be used to propagate? And if so how? I should probably go to the nursery, but if someone here can help, I'd be very grateful! I can't find any information on the net for these little suckers. Cheers!

It tells in the propagation topic they're usually started from seed, the plant tissue method sounds like grafting, but I'd also try something my mom taught me, and that's to suspend them in water, and see if they'll start to root.

Try different ways... Leave some stem on... cut between the stem and the flower, leave most of the flower stem

My Mom grows orchids, I know she'd like a crack at these.

Thanks! As you suggested I did test out a few, I have put some straight into soil and others into water, I also cut some and left them in a shady spot in the dry to compare with the ones I planted. It turns out that both those that were put in a pot of water (even though there are no roots), and those in a pot of soil (even though I can't tell if there are roots) are faring well, whereas the ones left out have started to wilt and yellow. My rather unconclusive conclusion, therefore, is that these plants can probably be propagated using these "things" (I've got no better name for them). Looks like I will have to wait for any proper answers though. Thanks for your help KUXJ!
