    Toilet handle repair
    Hello ,
Can someone please help me out with a question about my toilet handle. My toilet handle is loose. I tried to tighten the bolt on the back as tight as I could but the handle still isn't tight. I am not sure if the bolt on the lift arm is stripped or should I replace the handle altogether. It is an american standard toilet. My wonderful hubby replace the flapper on the bottom here recently because you could hear water running constantly in the toilet. Was that all he should have replaced? I noticed a huge increase on my water bill this month. He replaced the flap about a month ago.I don't understand

The handle has REVERSED thread. Therefore, you have to tighten the plastic nut CCW and from the inside of the tank. Also, there may be a square plastic insert behind the nut. That insert fits inside the hole where the handle penetrates. Make sure it is inserted - than tighten up the plastic nut.

I have tried to tighten the plastic nut as far as it will go. It was pretty hard to tighten.I don't think it is all the way tightened that is why I am wondering should I replace the handle. There is no plastic insert behind the nut. Just doesn't seem like the handle is sitting right

Handles are inexpensive. I think it would be the best bet. Take the old handle out and with you to Home Depot / Lowe's. Buy new one. Cost: about $7.00. Installation is a snap.

Good luck... Come back and let us know how you did. Milo

Help, the tank fills up too much, all the way to the handle! And then starts drip drip dripping outside the handle connection into a bucket! But I notice that when the toilet is used a lot (flushed) it does not doing it as often, I guess because it takes a while for the tank to fill up to the top...
