Call or visit your local public library. The reference desk will give you the names, phone numbers, etc. of lawyers or legal aid groups that do pro bono work in that area.

Since you listed this in criminal law, the court should appoint an attorney if you can not afford one

The court has appointed a lawyer. The thing is the trial is scheduled for 6/15/2009 and the public defender has not done diddly squat, absolutely nothing. So I wonder if I need different council.

Absolutely we should pitch in to help the environment, as well as our community. It won't hurt to pick a piece of paper or come to a complete stop at a stop sig, which can potentially save a life.

    Hello s:

You might... But, you need to tell us about the situation in detail. You'll get a MUCH better response than just asking a yes or no question.

A co-worker went to employer and stated money was being stolen from clients, employer sent another employee to accused office to confront about the matter, ex employee did not feel that was the person that should have been doing the confronting. Ex employee went on about everyday work. Later on that day ex employee received a call from employee stating ex employee was supspended pending an investigation. Employee confiscated everything in ex employees office, took info from computer which had each client and the amount of money each allegedly had and came up with an amount the ex employee allegedly took. None of the clients made any accustations about their money missing.
Here's the deal. The charge is Theft by deception in the amount over $100,000
Out on 75,000 bond. Have been going to court on this matter since 7/2006. During a court proceeding the judge stated the defendant stole the money. He didn't allege. The trial is set for 6/15/09 and the public defender has yet to interview anyone, file a motion absolutely nothing. I know this may be a little vague but, it's such a long story and a mess it's a lot.

    Hello again, s:

You've been with the PD for three years already, and your trial is next month... If something should have been done, it should have been done long before now. I think you're stuck with him. The judge won't re-assign a lawyer at this point, and you're not going to find a free one.

It sounds like nobody stole anything anyway, so maybe he doesn't need to interview anybody.
