    How much money of an estate is taxable in New York State?
    In New York State, what is the maximum amount of an estate that cannot be taxed? There are 5 children set to inherit their mother's estate equally.

    NYS follows the Fed rule and exempts the first 2 million of an estate. In 2009 that was raised to $3.5M
