    1985 Honda Death
    Hi I have a starting issue with my Honda. The engine turns over fine and I have new plugs cap roter wires. Im getting fuel and have even introduced fuel
    Directly. I have the right firing order. I have checked the timing belt to make sure the teeth are right and adjusted properly to make sure I havd not skipped a tooth. The engine is backfireing one cylynder back through the carburator and not letting the engine ignite. I AM STUMPED any other suggestions would be appreciated

    I Would Go Over Both Ign. And Valve Timing Carefully. Those Problems Normally Only Exist If One Is Incorrect. Bent Valves Is Another Possibility. Being An '85 That May Not Be A Zero Clearence Head.

    Did you recently rebuild the head? Did you set the head to TDC? With that said, did you set the block to the single mark or did you set the block center of the 3 marks? If you set the block to the single mark you are 16 degrees off, if you set them to the 3 marks on the crank pully you are 4 degrees to dead on. Does your head have an up mark or 3 holes with 2 lines? If you have the 3 holes with 2 lines you need to make sure that the lines line up with the valve cover base and have the single hole in the top position, any other way and you are anywhere between 90 and 180 degrees off. Now, backfiring can also be contributed to a number of small issues, sparkplugs, leaking headgasket, or being too rich on the fuel mixture.
