    Overdraft fees
    Hello,

My son was in a serious car accident and did not have insurance. He has been trying to pay his bills and is always short. He has hundreds of dollars in overdraft fees. He is paying Wachovia only the amount they ask for, so he will never pay them off. If I go to the bank with him and ask them to reduce some of the overdraft fees and pay off the remaining balance for him do you think there is any chance they will drop some of the fees? I do not what to embarrass myself.

My daughter did and they reimbursed her her entire $400. Because she showed them how the one overdraft dominoed the others.

The last time I tried to get a bank to drop some of mine though they said, "Well you should keep a spare couple hundred in the bank so you don't run into the problem". (Like I have a spare $200. )

Its worth a try but your best bet is to show them how their fees caused the bounces.
A lot depends who you talk to too. If you get a battle ax go to somebody else and see if they are more sympathetic.

I work for wachovia... it depends on your relationship, whether this is a first time occurane or a pattern, and the client circumstances... we doe have authority of providing assistance if we feel it's the right thing to do. But note... do not go to mulitple pple regarding the same matter... the first employee will have to key in notes and what was recommended... all other employees will have to respect that decision so it's a waste of time.

If you offer to settle and close out the account, they may agree. Its worth a try.

    Hi, Mom for two!

I've been successful in talking my credit union out of charging me for a couple of overdraft charges. So, I would suggest giving it a try.

    Thanks!
