    Do you have an ampmeter? If it draws less amps than it should and runs slower it is safe. If it draws more amps than it should and runs slower it is not.

    Regardless it is better to get the correct replacement parts.

    I have a Hunter model # 23457 and the remote will no longer reverse the fan or dim the light. All other functions work properly. When trying to reverse I hear a click and the fan slows briefly but then continues in the same direction. Hunter claims that the receiver, part# 8511202 is bad and they want $50 plus shipping just for this part which seems excessive. They tell me that remotes and receivers sold at Home Depot will not work with this fan. All I want to do is run it in the summer mode. Do you have any suggestions.
