New Thermostat Outside Fan not running
    Hello,

Last Spring I installed a Hunter 44860 programmable thermostat on our existing Marvair HVAC in our home. It worked wonderfully during the hot part of the year.

During the fall the system was off due to the nice outside temps (we are big on opening windows when the weather is nice), and we use a wood burning stove to heat during the winter, although we did use it a bit to keep the chill off.

Now that the temps are warming up again I went to turn on the a/c and noticed that although the inside system was running (fan, and cold air) that the outside unit's fan was not turning. The compressor was running, but I didn't think it was safe to run without the fan so I turned it off within 5 minutes.

The inside system is Marvair, and the outside unit is a Goodman CPKE30-1E.

I took the cover off the Hunter 44860 to make sure that all the wires were well connected, and it appears that they are.

I have read that it might be the fan on the outside unit or the capacitor, but I didn't know how to test those.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

Check the capasitor first it will only cost around $15 . Look to see if it swolen on the top, or if a wire is burnt on it.

It will be in the electric pannel of your outdoor unit.
