Defaming at work place
Hi there ♫
I've been 2 1/2 years with this company and NEVER EVER had any problems. All of my reviews were great with rise. Had never participated in talking about other people behind their back, always had professional and respectful performance. I was never late, never used company's time to do my own business. I love my job! Up until now everything was great! New girl started 2-3 weeks ago and from the beginning she did not accept any of my friendly attampts to build a good relationship. Than I stopped and was giving her time to adjust and honestly did not care if she'll be friendly or not. We were not talking much only if I iniciated she would answer and that's it.
After I've stopped trying she was going around talking about me being y, not talking to her even asked my teamleader, that I have so much respect from, how she can handle my iness. Well, HR lady hear stories going around, called her up to her office had listened to her side of story. NEVER contacted me to ask what do I thing about our "problem" ( I do not see any).
If the HR is involved it is an official issue that should be taken care of. I feel that I am not being treated fairly and that this is defaming my character. Isn't HR person supposed to her my side? Shouldn't she have asked me as I was the accused of something? Shouldn't I at least have to have a chance to deffend myself?
Forgot to say that I've spoke with my supervisor and was told that he is concerned with the fact that HR did not handled it correctly but nothing was done other than him saying that it tears him apart to see me that upset.
I am not sure about the law but as a human being I feel that this is just wrong and I deserve different approach.
Please let me know mainly if HR roule was missused and what should I do?
Best Regards,
Senchi

Defend yourself from what? Someone telling someone else that they don't like you?
Have you been affected negatively by this? Have you been fired? Reprimanded?

HR has a responsibility to investigate complaints. Assuming you have a good HR department, if this person was saying unkind things about you - and perhaps others - they are quite likely talking to her to identify if she has a valid complaint, or if she is a problem employee.
If they feel there is an issue with you, they would contact you. If they don't, there is no reason for them to call you in and share private information about the other person.
It can be very frustrating when you have office gossip running against you. If I'm right, or partially right, about what is going on, HR getting involved may actually be the solution for you.
What should you do? Mainly, don't make yourself part of the problem. Continue doing your job and treat others the way you have for the past 2 years. Avoid confrontation with the trouble-maker, but maintain a professional attitude and demeanor when you see her or have to interface with her.

I agree with Zazonker. It sounds to me like they haven't contacted you because, they know your work, but wanted to see what this girl had to say and why was she stirring things up.
On another side here. You talk about being professional, but, frankly, I had a hard time figuring out all you were saying. For example what is iness?

Also something like how could I be the problem if everything was just great... Today we had lunch -myy supervisor and, team leader, the new girl and I. Discussed the "problem" she apologized... Case closed ♫ Thanks againg!
Have a Great weekend!

Ahh, we have a profanity filter here, so that explains it.
Glad everything worked out for you.
