I live in va. My wife and I have been going through some difficult times for the last few years. I have tried to work on saving our marriage for my children (having grown up without my father and knowing how it feels) with no avail or even what would constitute as help from her. We have had such problems as her cheating and using drugs. Each time she has left she has left the kids with me. However this past weekend she took them and ran to Florida to her grandparents house who all by the way use drugs. I just want to get my children back and get them back in school where they belong and out of what I would consider a bad environment. Is there any laws that prevent her from doing so or any that would allow me to hurry the what seems to be legal procedures that I am aware of. Please be sure of what you write for I don't want to make any wrong moves. Thanks for all your advise.

File for immediate custody. She may be compelled to bring the children back to the state.

Get a lawyer... like today.

There are laws that both prevent her from fleeing like she did AND to hurry the process of getting them back.
