The lid switch may be bad. It's a little switch that keeps the lid closed during the spin cycle so you can't put your hand into the tub and get it whacked in shreads. It's the part that goes bad that keeps your washer from spinning at all. It's a safety thing. If you can disconnect it successfully your washer will spin but you should still replace the switch so the lid stays in the locked position when spinning.

Russell cox- she gave you really good advise :: in case you need to go into more checking it out heer is what to do;;; you will need to have a {volt ohm meter} in order to test the items you will need to :: } #1under the tub on the motor there are two soleinods < one that controls the { agitate and one that controls the spin cycles:: #2- to test these out ; unplug thr power cord from the wall receptical , set the volt-ohm meter to the rx100 scale :: leave the power off durning these tests rx100 scale ;;; pull the washer out from the wall and remove panel to get to where you need to :: remove the wires from one of the soleinods and clip the meter probes to the wire terminals: if the meter reads {250 to 1000 ohms] the solienod is good <if it reads higher then it is defective -replace { note } if one solienoid is bad : it says to replace both at the same time : if it's good replace wires and test the other one <the same way : if this is not the problem <then it could be either the lid switch or it could be the {timer }switch:: { note } on some washers the soleniods are internal on the motor and you will have to take the motor off and take it to a shop to be repaired } ::: #2- to test the lid switch: to get to the switch you will hsave to raise the top up : you will be able to see the switch <it will be either a button or a lever:: #2a-set the volt ohm meter to the rx! Scale: < power off the switch coulld be broken or out of adjustment or defective:: use your finger to reach under the splash cover to see if the switch is brokrn or not:: #3- to find out if sweitch is defectivre or not:: disconnect the wires to the switch <cliop the meter probes to the wire terminals <if the meter reads {zero ohms } the switch is good -if it reads high<<then it is defective {replace } if it is good then to check the switch for adjustment :: #4a-to adjust the switch- with a nut driver loosen the mounting screws and reach under the cover with your finger and just move switch a very little at a time:: you will hav to retighten the screws after every time you reset the switch <because you will have to recheck it after every time you reset <untill you have adjusted it right ::: if what you have done so far checks out good then you will have to go to the timer switch:: good luck and let us all know how you come out :: if i have helped you out <please rate my answer using the orange box below : have a great day and god bless ::f.b.e. sorry about the book
