    Internet Explorer 8
Microsoft keeps sending me options to upgrade to IE8.

I'm running IE7 and am pretty happy with it.

I have an older PC with a P4 processor. Just read an article from Geeks.com Tech Tips that likes IE8, but says it runs very slow on older processors.

    2 Questions:

Does anyone know if it is worth upgrading from IE7 to IE8?

Also, if I hate it, is there a way to downgrade back to IE7? (hopefully without losing all my settings and favorites)

    Thanks...

You can try it and if you choose not to use it, you can remove from add/remove programs as there is an uninstall option there once ie8 is installed

All your settings go to ie8 and back to ie7 if you uninstall

I would lax in my duties as a "helper" here on AMHD if I didn't respond to your question with the most satisfying and effective answer:

    FireFox.

    Thank you both.

Re: IE8, sounds easy enough to try it out. I'll give it a go.

Re: Firefox, I know everyone loves it. I even have it installed. Strangely, I have found several sites that didn't work with Firefox, but worked fine with IE7. (Have no idea why)

Occasionally, I've had the reverse situation as well. So I guess I've just gotten used to IE.

Sorry I didn't ask in the original post. Does IE8 really run slower than IE7 on a P4?

    Thanks again...

Personally could not tell you, I tried it and chose to go back to 7 - but you don't know until you try it - some like it
